Orangutan of the Month: Gil

sgil Gil is one of the many orangutan youngsters under OFI care at the Orangutan Care Center and Quarantine. Two to three year old Gil was brought to OFI by a man who grew up in Pasir Panjang but moved to a nearby transmigration area. Grateful to the OFI staff who changed bandages and cleaned a wound on the man’s hand, the man turned over Gil to OFI. Gil was kept as a pet for about a year previously. Weighing 6 kg. (13.2 lbs.), Gil is quite adorable with his big beautiful eyes. Gil took easily to the forest and spends his days with his pal Joe, who arrived from the same area on the same day.
